NEW! Marine cable Transits- Call us at (866) 342-3721 American Tech Supply is a national Firestop distributor for the Abesco CT120 Cable Transit system which is a Through Penetration Firestop Device designed to allow cables to penetrate fire-rated floors and walls. The CT120 can also work with raceway systems and act as a fire rated raceway between rooms where cable transition is required. The Cable Transit is an easy to install fireseal with no requirement to cut any material. The Cable Transit firestop consist of a square steel sleeve with heat reactive graphite based intumescent material. If exposed to high temperatures of 300 degrees F, the intumescent material will rapidly expand to form a solid insulating char plug to seal and prevent the passage of fire or smoke. The Cable Transit firestop is suitable for common types of construction including concrete floors and walls, gypsum drywall assemblies, and rated wooden floor constructions- Cable Transits, Fire Rated Cable Transits, Abesco Cable Transit Supplier,Fire Rated Raceway, Abesco CT 120 Cable Transits, Firestop Distributor, FireStop Protection

What is firestop?Firestop and Firestopping is an integral part of fire protection engineering. Firestop systems protect against the passage of flames, deadly gases and toxic smoke through openings that are created for penetrations, joints and gaps in fire-resistive walls, floors and floor/ceiling assemblies. The integrity of fire-rated assemblies is restored by firestop systems. Building codes require third-party tested systems to be installed whenever fire-rated construction is compromised by such openings. Firestop and Firestopping is an integral part of fire protection engineering in all commercial buildings and are required by law in most states to satisfy mandated laws for commercial building fire protection. What is meant by "active" and "passive" fire protection?Active fire suppression includes mechanical systems such as sprinklers, that are designed to extinguish fires after they have started. Passive fire protection functions to contain fires within the areas in which they start, preventing loss of life by preventing the products of combustion (smoke, hot gasses and flames) from spreading throughout a building. Why is "passive" fire protection necessary?Fire is a dangerous enough phenomenon that redundancy in fire protection is necessary. Having passive protection in place helps assure building occupants that there will be time to exit before gasses, fire and smoke spread throughout the building. If active systems fail, as they often do, then there is still a passive system in place for life safety. It is the use of many products designed for specific firestop applications that comprise a complete passive firestop fire protection systems. When installed properly, these firestop products work in concert with one another to create effective barriers against the passage of flames, smoke, and superheated gases. Used is conjunction with other firestop fire protection methods, properly installed passive fire protection will save lives, protect property, and minimize business losses. Joints Construction joints must be sealed with joint systems, which will impart a fire resistance at least equal to those of the adjacent constructions so that overall fire resistance is not compromised. Additional Information -Applications Click Here Fire resistive joint systems are used in building construction to seal joints, and must be of the same or greater fire resistance (temperature) rating as the wall or floor containing the opening which they are designed to protect. Perimeter joint systems are most often used to seal a clearance separation between curtain walls and floors. They are designed to accommodate various movements induced From the leader

Abesco CT120 Cable Transits are designed to prevent the spread of fire from one compartment to another where electrical, data, and communication cables penetrate through separating walls and floors. Abesco CT120 Cable Transits consist of a square section steel sleeve, which contains the heat reactive intumescent material. The unit has an integral hinged top which provides an easy retro-fit option where cables are pre-installed. Abesco CT Mounting Plates provide a quick and easy method of installing single or multiple CT120 Cable Transits. even in drywall partitions. WHY USE ABESCO CT120 CABLE TRANSITS ?
WHERE DO I USE ABESCO CT120 CABLE TRANSITS ?Abesco CT120 Cable Transits are suitable for use in any building where electrical, data, or communication cables penetrate through fire rated compartment floors and walls, including drywall. Typical types of buildings where Abesco CT120 Cable Transits are commonly used are : Banking and finance buildings, data processing centers, TV and media studios, apartment buildings, hotels, office buildings, hospitals, airports, retail centers etc.
When exposed to the heat of a fire, the graphite based intumescent material contained in the Abesco CT120 Cable Transits expands rapidly to close and seal the inside of the sleeve, preventing the spread of fire from one compartment to another.
