Access floor chipboard panels

Description
Chipboard access floors use has a very long tradition, and it is still considered to be an appropriate solution for today’s standard office access floor demands. As chipboard has a particularly favorable behavior of specific weight compared to resistance and rigidity ? it has been considered for a very long time as an ideal construction material ? a most economical solution.
Design
Hyperline chipboard panels consist of ultra-high density wood cores to guarantee a high degree of comfort. Among other advantages, a superior fire resistance and, above all, a considerably reduced sensitivity to humidity changes are essential properties of the Hyperline wooden access floor.
The wood core panels are provided with a self-extinguishing edge trim of high quality plastic compound to allow easy handling and protect the edges from damage during transportation and installation. The panel’s underside may be alternatively equipped with aluminum foil as a humidity barrier or with galvanized steel sheet to increase the load bearing capacity.

Chipboard panel
High-density chipboard panels are used as the base material. The panels used always meet E1-requirements regarding formaldehyde emissions. Standard-design chipboard panels have normal conductivity. Requirements for greater conductivity can be achieved with a specially designed panel where conductive components are mixed into the chipboard panels.

Note
The floor covering influences the overall conductivity. Chipboard panels have thicknesses of 1.5” (38 mm) and 1.3” (32 mm). With the addition of steel sheet backing, they make it possible to fulfill most of the existing load situations. For special heavy load applications, special reinforced substructures are available. B1 requirements according to DIN 4102 can be achieved using special fire-retarding treatment of the wood core and supplementary reinforcements of the substructure.

Design of the edges
The edges of the panels are tapered down at 5?, making it simple to remove and replace the panels.
Plastic edge trim at the perimeter guarantees fireproofing and the best possible sealing of the joints.

Surfacing on the lower side
The aluminum foil with all the AL-models serves as a protection against moisture on the lower side of the panel. It does not increase the strength of the chipboard panel. Increased strength is achieved by affixing galvanized steel sheet with the ST-models.

Floor coverings
Generally, all common access floor coverings are suited. In the standard design, the edge is, with elastic coverings, pulled up to the upper edge of the covering (exception: knobby floor coverings). When applying loosely laid floor coverings, we recommend providing the carrier panels with an appropriate coating.

Construction:
  1. Optional surface coating
  2. Protective edging of the panel depending on the coating type
  3. Lower coating - aluminum foil or iron plate
  4. Chipboard panel, formaldehyde emission class E1

Special features
Economic solutions

Reduced sensitivity to humidity
Dimensional accuracy
Low weight of the system
Stringers make it possible to increase loading
Conductivity is improved by adding graphite to chipboard panel
Easy and fast installations

Range of use
Computer rooms and switching centers

Office and design areas

High degree of flexibility
For every special technical demand, Hyperline offers special panel types to accommodate the individual load bearing requirements, and to guarantee the necessary fire and sound protection.

Acoustic characteristics
Material structure, construction features, and extremely precise production machinery guarantee very favorable acoustic properties.

Electrostatic characteristics
For antistatic or semi-conductive solutions, the panels will be equipped with a conductive edge trim, or for particularly highly-conductive floors, the wood core will be a graphite version to reduce the electrical resistance to > 106 Ohms. The use of an appropriate floor covering will be demanded.

Air ventilation
Either plastic or metal ventilation components can be fitted into the chipboard panels; or steel ventilation panels with different airflow rates can be installed instead of chipboard panels to accommodate the requirements of the subfloor air conditioning system.
