A MaxCell Rodder Head, also known as a “paddle,” is an effective tool for overriding existing cable installations. By inserting the paddle over the top of existing cables, it pushes them down in the conduit, creating more space at the top. This enlarged space can then be utilized for the placement of MaxCell and additional cables. The appropriate size of the Rodder Head depends on several factors, including the inside diameter of the conduit, the distance the rod needs to be pushed, the number and curvature of bends in the conduit, the condition of the conduit, and the fill ratio of the existing cables.
Using a MaxCell Rodder Head simplifies the installation of MaxCell innerduct. Once the Rodder Head exits the conduit, MaxCell can be attached to the paddle using a suitable swivel. As the Rodder Head is extracted to the insertion point, MaxCell can be placed in the conduit. Additionally, a pull rope or jacketed polyester rope can be inserted during the extraction process, enabling future placement of MaxCell.
