Abesco Mortar Abesco Fire Mortar-Fire Rated Mortar- Abesco FP-CP30310-Abesco Fire Rated Intumescent Caulk,Abesco FP-CP30350-ASTM E 814 Firestop Products

Abesco Mortar- Fire Rated Mortar-Abesco Fire Rated Mortar is a lightweight mortar compound which is designed to prevent the spread of fire from one compartment to another where services penetrate separating walls and floors.

Abesco Fire Rated Mortar consists of a specially blended powder which is supplied in easy to handle paper sacks. When mixed with water, Abesco Fire Rated Mortar forms a trowelable or pourable mixture which is easy to install and has excellent workability characteristics.

Why use Abesco Fire Rated Mortar

  • Manufactured to ISO 9001:2000
  • Suitable for large or small irregular openings
  • Easy to use
  • Simple to retro-fit additional services

Where to use Abesco Fire Rated Mortar

Abesco Fire Rated Mortar is particularly suitable

Abesco Fire Rated Mortar is particularly suitable for reinstating compartment floors where HVAC ducts, pipes and electrical services have been installed. Small holes and imperfections of fit can easily be "made good" using Abesco Fire Rated Mortar.

Typical buildings where Abesco Fire Rated Mortar is commonly used are:

  • Multi-story buildings with service risers.
  • Communication and Broadcasting Facilities.
  • Hospitals, Hotels and Apartment Blocks.
  • Power Stations and Control Rooms.

Abesco Fire Rated Mortar can be used in walls or floors.

How does Abesco Fire Rated Mortar work?

When exposed to the heat of a fire, the excellent thermal insulation properties of Abesco Fire Rated Mortar provides an effective barrier, preventing the passage of fire and smoke. Unlike sand and cement mortars or concrete, the special formulation resists shrinkage and cracking, and is not subject to spailing in a fire situation.

During installation and the curing process, Abesco Fire Rated Mortar actually expands ensuring that an excellent seal is possible even in irregular openings.

Using other Abesco Products

Other Abesco Fire Rated products can easily be used in conjunction with Abesco Fire Rated Mortar. For example, where plastic pipes are installed in a service riser with other services, Abesco Pipe Collars or Abesco Fire Wraps can be used with the Mortar to provide the required fire rating.

Fire Rated Silicone Caulk-

Abesco CP310 FR Acrylic Intumescent Caulk is a single part water based acrylic mastic, which provides a firm but flexible seal to joints in a variety of fire rated structures

PART # DESCRIPTION
FP-CP30310 CP310 Fire Rated Acrylic Intumescent Caulk, 10.5 oz. Cartridge, RED
FP-CP30350 CP310 Fire Rated Acrylic Intumescent Caulk, 10.5 oz. Cartridge, WHITE

What happens in a Fire Situation?

When exposed to the heat of a fire, the intumescent material contained in the Intumescent Caulk expands to fill any small gaps, thereby maintaining the integrity of the seal and preventing the spread of fire from one compartment to another.

Abesco CP310 FR Acrylic Intumescent Caulk is designed to prevent the spread of fire from one compartment to another wherever services penetrate separating walls and floors, or wherever a gap remains between elements in fire rated constructions, walls or floors.

Abesco CP310 FR Acrylic Intumescent Caulk is a single part water based acrylic mastic, which provides a firm but flexible seal to joints in a variety of fire rated structures. It will not support combustion, and when exposed to fire it forms a carbonaceous char which expands to effectively seal any gaps, preventing the spread of smoke and fire through any joints.

Abesco CP310 FR Acrylic Intumescent Caulk is supplied in a range of packaging sizes.

Abesco CP310 FR Acrylic Intumescent Caulk is designed to seal and prevent the spread of fire from one compartment to another wherever cables, wires, or other services pass through firewalls and/or floors, or wherever there is a gap between elements in fire rated walls or floors

American Tech Supply is a national Firestop distributor and firestop supplier for a multitude of firestop products and carries a complete line of Firestop Products and Fire Stop Protection products. Our complete line of firestop fire protection products helps stop the spread of fire, smoke and toxic fumes. Our firestop fire protection produsts are easy to install and are approved for a wide variety of firestop applications by Underwriter’s Laboratories. Total passive firestop and 'fire' protection cannot be achieved with the use of a singular product. It is the use of many products designed for specific firestop applications that comprise a complete passive firestop fire protection systems. When installed properly, these firestop products work in concert with one another to create effective barriers against the passage of flames, smoke, and superheated gases. Used is conjunction with other firestop fire protection methods, properly installed passive fire protection will save lives, protect property, and minimize business losses.

Firestop and Firestopping is an integral part of fire protection engineering in all commercial buildings and are required by law in most states to satisfy mandated laws for commercial building fire protection.  Firestop systems protect against the passage of flames, deadly gases and toxic smoke through openings that are created for penetrations, joints and gaps in fire-resistive walls, floors and floor/ceiling assemblies.  The integrity of fire-rated assemblies is restored by firestop systems.  Building codes require third-party tested systems to be installed whenever fire-rated construction is compromised by such openings.

What is meant by "active" and "passive" fire protection?

Active fire suppression includes mechanical systems such as sprinklers,  that are designed to extinguish fires after they have started.  Passive fire protection functions to contain fires within the areas in which they start, preventing loss of life by preventing the products of combustion (smoke, hot gasses and flames) from spreading throughout a building.

Why is "passive" fire protection necessary?

Fire is a dangerous enough phenomenon that redundancy in fire protection is necessary.  Having passive protection in place helps assure building occupants that there will be time to exit before gasses, fire and smoke spread throughout the building.  If  active systems fail, as they often do, then there is still a passive system in place for life safety.

Joints

Construction joints must be sealed with joint systems, which will impart a fire resistance at least equal to those of the adjacent constructions so that overall fire resistance is not compromised.

Additional Information

Fire resistive joint systems are used in building construction to seal joints, and must be of the same or greater fire resistance (temperature) rating as the wall or floor containing the opening which they are designed to protect. Perimeter joint systems are most often used to seal a clearance separation between curtain walls and floors. They are designed to accommodate various movements induced
