| MRV Products WDM88 - 8-Channel, 8-Wavelength CWDM Systems  The WDM88 is part of the Fiber DriverT line of Coarse Wave Division Multiplexers from MRV Communications. Using eight wavelengths, it multiplexes eight separate data channels onto one fiber trunk. It effectively multiplies the capacity of available fiber by a factor of eight, delivering high-speed bandwidth at Full Duplex. Link distances of up to 65 km are possible, making the WDM88 ideally suited to Metro, Campus, and Government/Military environments. With support for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, FICON, and ESCON, it is an excellent solution for a wide range of applications including migration from legacy protocols such as FDDI and Fast Ethernet, increasing network capacity in fiber limited areas, and creating or extending SANs. Applications for OC48 (2.5 Gig) Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and FICON protocols are available as either a 19" rack-mount standalone (1 U) or as a 5-slot Fiber Driver Chassis module. The ESCON systems come in a pre-configured 19" rack-mountable chassis (2.5 U) with a built-in NMS. For fiber-limited installations, Single Fiber versions of the WDM88 are available, providing the same level of performance over a single fiber strand up to a distance of 35 km. Three of the 5-slot modules can be managed in just one of the Fiber Driver 16-slot chassis, achieving a high density of 24 ports in just 2.5 U of rack space while using a total of only three fibers for the trunk. |
