Constructed of reinforced thermoplastic, the 2550SC Fiber
Optic Splice Closure needs no outer closure or encapsulant.
Resilient, reusable grommets are used for cable sheath seal-
ing. A compact closure, the 2550SC is 18 inches (46 cm)
long and seven inches (18 cm) wide in diameter, and weighs
only six pounds (3 kg). The small, efficient, butt-design of
the closure makes cable protection fast and convenient.
The 2550SC Closure can be used in a variety of installa-
tion environments, including underground, aerial, buried,
pedestal, and handhole. State-of-the-art materials are used
throughout the closure, helping to ensure high performance
and reliability.
The 2550SC Fiber Optic Splice Closure with the appropriate
grommet and grip kit is designed to accept up to four fiber
optic cables with an outside diameter ranging from 0.3 to
0.9 inches (7.6 to 22.8 mm). It accommodates the storage
of up to 48 individual fusion splices using heat shrink pro-
tection sleeves or aluminum crimp sleeves. Additional kits
are available to accommodate 24 mechanical splices or eight
ST® Connectors. See the ordering information section for
descriptions of closures and accessory kits. With the
2550SC Fiber Optic Splice Closure, you can express large
fiber count cables and perform branch or drop splicing.
The 2550SC Fiber Optic Splice Closure is small and easy to
handle, making installation craft-friendly. The hex-tool, nut-
driver wrench that is packed with each closure, is the only
tool you need for closure assembly.
All hardware required
for the sealing, attachment, isolation, bonding or external
grounding of loose tube cables is provided.
The 2550SC Closure is offered in two basic configurations
to support unit tube and loose tube cable designs. Accessory
kits are available to handle nearly any combination of cables
and splices. Detailed assembly and installation instructions
are packaged with each closure or accessory kit of parts.
